The Ahrntal Valley

The Ahrntal Valley, the northernmost valley in Italy, is one of South Tyrol’s most pristine valleys—surrounded by 80 peaks over 3,000 meters high, it is framed to the north and west by the Zillertal Alps.

Throughout South Tyrol, our valley is simply referred to as “Toul” (German for “Tal” or “das Tal”, meaning “the valley”), and the locals of the Ahrntal Valley are called “Tölderer” (“Teldra” in the local dialect).

The Ahr River, which gives the Ahrntal Valley its name, rises at an altitude of approximately 2,500 meters below the Birnlücke mountain pass in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park and flows through the entire valley. Numerous streams from the Rieserferner group and the Zillertal Alps flow into the Ahr. Near Bruneck, the Ahr flows into the Rienz, the main river of the Puster Valley.

Over 50 managed mountain huts (Almen) await your visit, both in summer and in winter.
